Material Quality Checks: What to Ask Before Buying
When investing in a mezzanine floor, not all steel and materials are created equal. The structure may look solid, but the real difference lies in the quality of materials and how they’re certified, processed, and protected. At ModuleX Mezzanine by EfficientX Asia Sdn Bhd, we believe a confident buyer is an informed one — here’s what you should always ask before signing off on your next project.
First, ask about material origin and grade. Genuine structural steel should come with mill certificates and match the design specification. In Malaysia, common grades like S275JR or S355JR are used for strength and weldability — anything lower may compromise load capacity.
Next, inspect the surface treatment. Steel used in humid or industrial environments must be properly galvanized or powder-coated to resist corrosion. ModuleX uses POWDER COATING UP TO 100MICRON for long-term durability, even in coastal or high-humidity facilities.
Then, check weld quality and connection integrity. Look for full penetration welds, smooth finishes, and uniform fasteners. Poor welding is often the hidden weak point of many low-cost platforms.
Finally, request sample inspection and test reports. ModuleX provides full traceability — from material batch records to load simulation data — so clients know exactly what supports their structure.
And if you want to see real quality in action, you’re welcome to visit our factory. At ModuleX, we open our doors so clients can experience how each beam, column, and platform is built — from raw steel to final assembly.
A mezzanine is only as strong as the materials behind it.
